On Friday, October 7, sorors from MCAC and Potomac Valley Alumnae Chapter (PVAC) joined family and friends for the premiere of Birth of a Nation, the chapter’s 2nd Red Carpet Event of the sorority year. The event was a collaboration between MCAC’s and PVAC’s Arts and Letters Committees and part of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. national Delta Red Carpet initiative.
The Arts and Letters committees welcomed 145 people to a private screening of Birth of a Nation at the AMC Loews Rio Cinemas 18 Theatre, in Gaithersburg, MD.
The movie depicted the historic story of Nat Turner, a slave who led a revolt against the slave owners in the early 1800’s. While guest found some scenes were difficult to watch but admitted that being a part of our group made for a very memorable experience.
Guests were greeted with classic red and white balloon and decorations and received “Thank You” lollipops. The group even gathered for a picture before leaving the theater. MCAC and PVAC are extremely thankful to everyone who came out to support our Red Carpet Event.
